In a bid to maintain peace and order during the observance of Labor Day on May 1, the Quezon City Police District will deploy 1,758 police personnel in several areas throughout the city.

QCPD aims to secure possible areas where there may be threats and civil disturbances as well as implement health and safety protocols.

“We will deploy additional police personnel to maintain peace and order in our city. We would also like to ask our residents to stay at home so we can avoid the spread of Covid-19,” QCPD Director BGen. Antonio Yarra said.

The city’s police district and QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office are also prepared to give medical and rescue assistance in an event of earthquake, fire and other natural and man-made disasters.

On the other hand, the Task Force for Transport and Traffic Management will deploy 282 enforcers in traffic enforcement and to assist in maintaining social distancing and health protocols in community pantries, cash assistance payout, and vaccination sites.

The law and order were instructed by the Mayor to ensure that the IATF health protocols are strictly observed and to ensure orderliness at the community pantries.

“May mga naka-deploy tayong enforcers para sa pagpapatupad ng social distancing at health protocols lalo na sa community pantries, ‘ayuda’ payout at sa vaccination sites. Of course, there will also be enforcers for traffic assistance,” TFTTM chief Dexter Cardenas said.

Mayor Joy Belmonte also called on residents to refrain from going out unless necessary as mass gatherings are still not authorized during Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine.

“Nananawagan po ako sa ating mga residente na kung maaari manatili na lang po kayo sa inyong mga bahay kung wala namang mahalagang pupuntahan. Nasa ilalim pa rin tayo ng MECQ at ipinagbabawal pa rin ang mass gathering ayon sa IATF guidelines,” Mayor Belmonte said.

The city will also deploy additional personnel from the law and order cluster, 100 personnel from the Department of Public Order and Safety, Market Development and Administration Department, Task Force Disiplina, and Barangay Public Safety Officers from different barangays.
