The Quezon City government has been relentless in its vaccination drive by adding more vaccination sites across the city through the help of the private sector.

Currently, the city boasts a total of 35 vaccination sites scattered in its six districts, strategically located to accommodate more residents. This number has exceeded the original 24 venues identified by the city when it laid out its vaccination plan to the national government.

“Our vaccination drive is in full swing. With a continuing effort to establish more inoculation sites and given a steady supply of vaccines, we are now averaging more than 7095 individuals inoculated every day with yesterday May 15 reaching a high of 8574,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

To date, the city government has administered more than 229,500 doses of vaccines provided by the national government.

Mayor Belmonte also expressed deep appreciation to the private sector, who has played an important role in opening more sites for QCitizens.

“The private sector organizations and companies here in our city have been truly proactive in extending help to the city government by offering their spaces and lending their medical teams to administer the vaccines. The goal of achieving herd immunity in Quezon City has taken the whole-of-city approach to a new level,” she added.

Universities such as Ateneo de Manila University and University of the Philippines Diliman; churches like Our Lady of Consolacion Parish, Sacred Heart Parish and Christ the King of the Universe Parish; malls such as SM City Malls and Robinsons Malls; multipurpose and events spaces Araneta Coliseum, UP Technohub and Elements at Centris; and hotels such as Richmonde Hotel in Eastwood have all opened its doors and established vaccination sites in their establishments.

Aside from these, inoculations are done in schools, hospitals, clubhouses of homeowners’ associations, barangay halls and covered courts. Home vaccinations are also being conducted for bedridden residents, and the city’s QC Protektodo vaccination buses target areas where many residents are not able to access the internet or register online with eZconsult.

In addition, Mayor Joy Belmonte also expressed gratitude to the numerous medical and non-medical volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to ensure the smooth flow of the vaccination process in all sites.

“Our sites will not run properly without our hardworking volunteers who exert effort to provide the best quality service to our people, answering citizens’ questions and also appeasing the concerns of our patients. It is very overwhelming that it is now a whole-of-city approach. This is our most important battle. If we can’t defeat Covid-19 the way the Avengers stopped Thanos, we won’t be able to regain the world we used to enjoy. Ito ang ating bayanihan sa turukan,” Belmonte said.
