Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led the inauguration and groundbreaking of several priority housing projects initiated by the local government.

These include a 3-storey Socialized Housing Project and a 12-storey housing project in Barangay Balingasa. Mayor Belmonte was joined by QC Housing and Community Development and Resettlement Department head Ramon Asprer, Chairman Teresa Montalbo, Coun. TJ Calalay, former QC Vax to Normal co-chairman Joseph Juico, and former councilor Ollie Belmonte.

Mayor Belmonte assured the residents that the city government aims to provide decent and affordable housing for its citizens.

The Socialized Housing Project No. 32 will benefit around 363 families. Presently, the city has targeted “Katiyakan sa Paninirahan” to about 17,000 indigent families.

On Thursday, Mayor Belmonte together with HCDRD also held a public dialogue with residents in Brgy. Batasan Hills who want to be part of the direct sale housing program.

Meanwhile, two infrastructure projects are in the works in District 2– a 5-storey Evacuation Center and the QC Megawide Emergency Healthcare Facility. The Evacuation Center will have its own command center, sleeping quarters, showers and toilets, while the QC Megawide Emergency Healthcare Facility is a permanent isolation center for residents who will test positive for COVID-19. The isolation facility will lessen the need for the city to use public schools as quarantine facilities.

To help bring services closer to its residents, the city recently opened an Action Center in the fourth district. In the newly-built District 4 Action Center ,some departments in QC Hall will have satellite offices such as the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs, Persons with Disability Affairs Office, QC Health Department, Social Services Development Department, Public Employment Services Office, QC Youth Development Office, City Civil Registry Department, and Office of the Action Officer. A pharmacy is also included inside the action center to provide accessible and affordable essential medicines.

“Our vision in the city government is to provide quality service to our constituents and to decentralize these services to increase efficiency and reduce inconvenience.
