Need to Know: During the Liberation Period, Barangay Escopa was a barrio named Lata. This was changed into ISCOPA, meaning 1st Signal Corps of the Philippine Army, before finally becoming “Escopa”.

In 1972, Barrio Escopa was divided into four barangays namely Escopa I, Escopa II, Escopa III. Escopa IV. Barangay Escopa IV was created under Executive Order No. 29 by Mayor Norberto Amoranto under PD Nos. 557 dated September 21, 1974.
Felicisimo Villanueva served as the first Barangay Captain of Barangay Escopa IV from 1973-1974, succeeded by Jose Miñoza as Barangay Captain who served up to 1982. In 1982 the regular election for Barangay Officials was held and Jose Miñoza was elected and served his term until 1987.
