The Quezon City Government through the Housing, Community Development and Resettlement Department (HCDRD) has been actively pursuing the Direct Purchase and Direct Sale program that aims to provide every QCitizen with safe, comfortable and affordable housing.
Under the Direct Purchase, the city buys the properties occupied by Informal Settler Families (ISFs) directly from the landowner/s with the intention of eventually providing land tenure to the actual occupants.
The city government has already formally acquired 157 parcels of land from Landbank and other various landowners including Prosperity Industrial Corp., Elizabeth Elsie G. Ng et al, Tofemi Realty Corp., and Manila Remnant Co., Inc. in Barangay Baesa, Old Balara, Bagong Silangan and Payatas.
Following the acquisition, the obtained lots will be awarded to the residents through the Direct Sale Program. This allows families residing in acquired properties to purchase said property. Informal settlers residing in these areas for decades can now own the property with Transfer Certificate of Titles (TCT) handed to them after settling the payment of their respective lots to the city government.
From 2020 to 2024, the city has already purchased 35 properties with a total area of 622,053 sqm or 62.2 hectares that provided security of land tenure to 14,065 ISF’s of Quezon City.
