The Quezon City Government has regularized 254 government employees, mostly contractuals after passing the Human Resource Merit Promotion and Selection Board. The employees who have been working with the Quezon City Hall for more than twenty (20 years) can now enjoy regular employee status.
The City Mayor has ordered the regularization process to be done periodically to provide job security in the local government. The mayor has signed a Memorandum Circular bumping the salaries of contractuals to livable rates.
Aside from security of tenure, regularized government personnel receive fringe benefits, 13th month bonus, performance-based bonus, and allowances.
The mayor wants to depoliticize appointments and promotions and adhere to meritocracy.
