The Quezon City Local Government, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), awards SHIELD against Child Labor Educational Assistance to child workers in the city.
The educational assistance aims to help alleviate the children’s burden in their school and daily expenses.
Under the program, the parents were asked to sign the agreement that prohibits them from sending their children back to the streets to work again. This also seals their continuous support for the Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP).
The initiative is part of the city’s Zero Child Labor campaign and was able to provide assistance for 50 children.
