The Local Government of Quezon City, through the Small Business and Cooperatives Development and Promotions Office (SBCDPO) and QC Youth Development Office (QCYDO), implements the Be Your Own Boss – QC Youth Entrepreneurship Program (BYOB-QCYEP) to help QCitizens aged 18-30 years old start or further grow their own business.
BYOB aims to equip the youth with the necessary skills they can use to obtain opportunities for self-employment. This also grants the participants the merit of self-employment, with the possibility of achieving long-term success.
Under the program, participants receive a 4-day training that involves discussions and activities covering topics such as entrepreneurship, business planning, customer service, finance, and marketing. After completing the training, the completers are endorsed to Pangkabuhayang QC for capital assistance.
With its pilot run led by the USAID-Education Development Center (EDC) and Quezon City University (QCU) in 2022 through the USAID Opportunity 2.0 program, this initiative was initially created to provide livelihood for Out-of-School Youth (OSY) who are unable to graduate.
As of April 2026, a total of 606 beneficiaries have participated in the program, 220 of them from QCYDO, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), recorded from 2023 to December 2025, and 386 youth completers from 9 batches of training conducted by the SBCDPO, in partnership with the QCU, documented from 2023 to March 2026.
BYOB is part of the Quezon City Youth Development Alliance (QCYDA) programs.
