The Quezon City Government through its Environment Protection and Waste Management Department (EPWMD) has installed air quality monitoring sensors across the city to determine the pollution levels and create appropriate solutions to achieve cleaner air.
The sensors will measure pollutants such as most dangerous particulate matter 2.5 (PM 2.5) which comes from the emissions of cars, trucks, and industrial facilities.
Through these air quality monitoring sensors, the city is able to gather the city’s air quality baseline data that will help in planning and determining programs, projects and policies.
The city is supported by C40 Cities and Clean Air Asia and will continuously provide guidance and trainings that will help the city achieve its objectives.
As of 2024 the local government has installed 40 non-reference air quality sensors in and around the city.
