The Quezon City Government has rolled out eight (8) new electric QCity buses to roam around the city offering free rides as part of their steadfast commitment to building a green, livable and sustainable city.
With the conversion to electric vehicles, the city government acts on its goal to reduce 30% of the greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The initiative is also set to improve the air quality in Quezon City by minimizing the black carbon emissions in the transportation sector by 25%.
The electric QCity buses were built with 41 seating capacity and enough space to accommodate the standing passengers. The buses have lower floorings compared to the usual transportation and wheelchair ramps and areas for PWD passengers. Each e-bus is also equipped with handrails, fire suppression as well as emergency equipment, CCTV cameras, and smart TV.
Assisted by the Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD) enforcers, the city’s transition to electric fleet also conforms to Republic Act No. 11697 or also known as the “Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act or EVIDA Law.”
