The local government has started its solarization program as part of its initiatives in energy conservation and reduction. The program aims to reduce its dependence on non-renewable energy through the use of solar energy.
It aims to solarize all city-owned properties including buildings, hospitals and schools through efficient building solutions and transitioning to renewable energy sources.
In 2024, two (2) public schools and three (3) major buildings inside the Quezon City Hall have already been solar-powered – the High-Rise Main Building, the Legislative Building and the Treasury Building installing almost 600 photovoltaic solar panels.
The local government also plans to install more than 1,000 solar panels in city-owned schools and hospitals, specifically the Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, Novaliches District Hospital and Quezon City General Hospital.
As of February 2025, 216 and 290 pieces of solar panels were installed in Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital and Novaliches District Hospital respectively, making both hospitals fully solar-powered.
For school solarization, the city government targets 50 more public schools including Culiat Elementary School, Culiat High School, Judge Feliciano Belmonte Sr. High School, New Era High School, and Tandang Sora Elementary School.
