After the success of the Vote to Tote program, the local government has institutionalized the repurposing of tarpaulins. Instead of these used tarps going to landfills, they are converted into fashionable bags which are then sold in department stores and other pop-up events.
Since its launch on May 2022, the city has repurposed more than 100 tons of tarpaulins.
Moreover, the program extends its benefits to the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) at the QC Jail Female Dormitory, providing them with valuable livelihood opportunities. Beneficiaries undergo trainings such as sewing and marketing, empowering them with the means to support themselves.
