The Quezon City Government, through the Department of Sanitation and Cleanup Works of Quezon City (DSQC), has launched its QC Basuhero: A Recyclables Trading Program, where QCitizens can earn cash by trading their recyclable materials with the city’s partner recycler.
Under the program, DSQC’s Task Force on Solid Waste Management (QC TFSWM) roam around different subdivisions of the city to conduct the ‘house-to-house’ recycling trading program, which accepts papers, bottles, scrap metals, and plastics.
Apart from that, DSQC has also developed the QC BasuHero App, an engaging and interactive mobile game that is designed to educate people on the proper waste segregation and compliance with environmental laws. The app is available to download on the Google Play Store.
As of September 2025, approximately 15,900 kg of recyclables have already been collected by the local government.
The program is part of the city’s efforts towards environmental sustainability and promoting community participation in reducing waste and recycling.
For more information about the program, kindly send DSQC an email or visit their office. To schedule the recyclables collection day in your area, QCitizens may follow and message the DSQC Official Facebook page.
